Permission Levels

A brief description of each setting

These are the different permission levels in order of responsibility, Move/Delete being the highest.

  • Exclude
  • Read Only
  • Modify with approval
  • Modify with no approval
  • Add new
  • Make user/subscriber
  • Make officer/permissions
  • Delete/Move

These can be allocated to control how people interact with areas of the site or with other members. For simplicity the permission names used stay the same no matter what they might apply to.

Exclude
Setting this permission will often not allow the area to be seen in the first place, as the name implies it completely excludes a user from the area chosen.
Read Only
This grants access to the area but no modification or ajustments can be made. This setting is particularly usefull for public permissions.
Modify with approval
With this permission a user can edit the area, but on submit no change is made, instead notification of the edit is sent to the owner. The owner then denies or approves the change.
Modify with no approval
The user can modify an area with no approval, but not create anything new.
Add new
The user has the ability to create and modify the area. However there is still no capibility to delete.
Make user/subscriber
Make officer/permissions
Delete/Move
This is the highest permission you can give to a person. It allows access, modification, the ability to add new areas and most importantly the ability to delete and move the area. Typically this permission is only given to a few trusted officers and should never be given to the public.
